Sukanya started writing poetry regularly from the age of six, though she already was talking in rhymes as early as four. Poetry comes to her very naturally, she does not have to struggle with words. Sukanya does not know herself how many hundreds of poems she has written so far. She only knows that poetry calls her and she responds to that call.

Sukanya's poetry is like Sukanya herself - bright, deep, yet simple. Her words are not difficult, they are easily comprehensible. Her poetry depicts a distinctly original style. Feelings, emotions, exuberance, intellect - all play effortlessly in her poems. Many crucial subjects are often portrayed in her poems in an uncomplicated manner. Even minor things get a lot of significance in Sukanya's writing. Every moment is extremely valuable for her and she uninhibitedly opens herself up to depict that in her poems. This is why, perhaps, a scene comes alive in the eyes of the reader while reading each of Sukanya's poems. Sukanya writes in three languages - Bengali, English and Hindi.

Sukanya has two books to her credit - 'Mon' (The Mind), her first book and 'Ananter Dhwoni' (The Sound of Eternity), the latest one. 'Ananter Dhwoni' is enriched with hundred poems.

It was a great moment for Sukanya when one of her English poems titled “Imagine” was published in “The Art of Poetry” - the National Anthology of Poems of England. Sukanya has also written several songs, which obviously is another version of poetry. Her music album ‘Na Hoy’ was among the first albums available on iTunes in which all the songs were written by her.
